HealthWays was adopted as the name for our organization in 1999, when it was determined that the Regional Medical Center at Lubec, as a name, no longer adequately described the scope of services being provided nor the expanded geographic presence that was an outgrowth of several programs, including Sunrise County HomeCare Services work across Washington County, Community Services prevention work in the northern five counties, and Maine Telemedicine Services statewide impact.

Regional Medical Center at Lubec remains the corporate name of the organization and continues to represent the clinical services being provided in Lubec, Machias, and Calais. We are the Regional Medical Center at Lubec, Inc., doing business as (DBA) HealthWays.

HealthWays/RMCL, Inc. is a federally qualified community health center, funded through the Health Resources and Services Administration by the Bureau of Primary Health Care, and has been providing health services since 1971 in a service area that includes Lubec, Cutler, Whiting, Trescott, Dennysville, Edmunds, and Campobello Island, NB. Additional specific services, such as counseling, are provided in Eastport, Calais, and Machias. In addition, a school-based health center is located in SAD #19-Lubec Consolidated School.
